Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories Giveaway!

June 19th, 2009 · Posted By: Jenny

Calling all aspiring children’s book authors!  Cheerios wants to read your children’s stories.  Now in it’s 3rd year, the Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories New Author Contest encourages previously un-published authors to write the next great children’s book. Entries are accepted through July 15th.  You can find out more at the spoonfulsofstoriescontest.com.

Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories has given away more than 35 million children’s books by distributing them free inside cereal boxes over the past seven years, and has donated nearly $3 million to First Book, their non-profit partner, which provides books to children from low-income families.

To celebrate the Spoonfuls of Stories contest and to encourage the importance of reading to your child, Cheerios has given us a Spoonfuls of Stories book gift set to give away to one lucky reader!  This set of four books includes the first Spoonfuls of Stories winner, The Great Dog Wash.  I love reading with my kids (in fact I just got Joshua his own library card this week! It was so exciting!) and this set of great books makes it really fun!

To enter, leave us a comment on this post telling us your favorite children’s book.  One winner will be chosen by random.org on Friday, June 26th!  Good luck and happy entering!

I love, Love, LOVE it. It’s great for so many reasons, but my mom likes to knit surprise stuff for the kids so the plot is extra funny to me.

I have always loved “The Giving Tree.” My kids have all loved “Go, Dog. Go.” from an early age. We’re currently homeschooling our oldest with a literature-based curriculum so he’s falling in love with new books all the time!

  9. Tricia says:

I can’t remember my favorite children’s book so I will have to tell you my son’s “Peggy Pigs Dirty Day”. Not exactly on the best seller list but tons of things to “feel”.

  10. Emily says:

My daughter could spend all day reading. Right now our favorite is “Moo, Ba, La La La.” She gets so excited when she knows the duck is coming that she can barely contain her excitement and she shouts out “Duck!” while we are still on the dog/cat page. It’s too cute.

  11. Lori says:

I love wild about books… the author escapes me now, but it is about a librarian who starts a library in a zoo and how the animals learn to love literature!

Office Buckle and Gloria are also good, as well as Very Hungry Catpillar (or any other insect book by Eric Carle).

  12. Cathi Carpenter says:

I still love “Where the Wild Things Are”…and I am tickled that my boy knew it by heart, word for word before he could read!
