Did you watch the Celebrity Apprentice last night? It was my first time watching it, and I was slightly appalled by all the crazy EGOS going wild! The teams were supposed to create a “viral video” for all® Small & Mighty detergent, and they were both a GIANT FAIL!! As a matter of fact, there was NO winner – no celebrity’s charity got the $20,000 prize!
But – there is still a happy ending to the story. Contestants Joan & Melissa Rivers each were able to create a funny video encore for all® Small & Mighty after the fact, which you can view at the all® website. (I like Joan’s the best! Even though I am scared of her plastic-surgery face, it is very funny!!) Recently EcoStore USA, the makers of eco-friendly, plant-based household products with no nasty chemicals, contacted me about doing a review and giveaway and I was all “YAY” because frankly, I’ve been looking for a laundry detergent that is gentle on my clothes AND actually gets stains out, and I was coming up empty. So I was very interested in trying their safe household products! I tried out their laundry liquid, oxy whitener, and lemongrass bar soap (for my delicate skin). I secretly doubted that the detergent would be able to get out Sophie’s toddler stains but thought at least it would be okay for my own clothes.
Well, color me wrong, because this stuff got out stains really well! I was more than impressed. And, as I suspected it was much gentler on my clothes than what I had been using. For really rough stains, I did use the Oxy whitener as well and got great results just soaking clothes for a couple of hours and then washing with the laundry liquid. Another bonus is that I didn’t have to use much of either product because the formulas are super-concentrated. A little goes a loooong way!
EcoStore also makes bath and baby products, and along those lines I tried out the Lemongrass soap. I am a sucker for lemon-scented things and this does not disappoint in that area, BUT it’s a much milder lemon than most and really pleasant. Also, the soap is super-moisturizing and I will definitely be purchasing some in the future!
Speaking of purchasing, in just a couple of weeks, EcoStore USA’s products are going to be available here in the midwest at Meijer stores! YAY!! The prices are really reasonable and I’m so glad to have a store nearby where I can purchase more of the laundry liquid and oxy whitener.

Since I’ve been couponing, I’ve tried out a lot of different household cleaners that I’ve gotten for (basically) free or FREE-99, as I like to say. But there are a couple that really stand out, and I like them soo much that I wanted to tell you all about them. No one even gave me a free sample or bribed me to tell you, I just WANT to! So, here goes.
Favorite product # 1: Dawn Direct Foam
This is the best dish soap EV-AH. I never even really cared about dish soap until I met DDF. This stuff foams out of the pump and it really works! I love the foam because it’s not sticky or hard to rinse off like some dish soaps, but what I really love is this: if you squirt one pump into a crusty crock pot and leave it sit for an hour or two, it turns all the crustiness into easy-to-rinse-off mush! It really is amazing!! So even though (thanks to my CVS shopping) I have enough dish soap to last a year, I’m going to give it all away and use my coupons and ExtraCare Bucks to buy Dawn Direct Foam! It rocks!!
Favorite Product #2: Easy-Off Bam!
This was recommended to me by my friend and babysitter Krisha, who at the ripe old age of 14 is the chief bathroom cleaner in her household. It was on the rebate program at Walgreens a couple of months ago so I got me some and it is GREAT!! I ha-ate cleaning the tub and shower so when I get around to it, it’s generally a little, um, dirtier than it should be. And when I’m done, it’s usually still not as clean as I’d like! Until now, that is! My shower and tub seriously sparkle now. I have no idea what is in this stuff to make it dissove soap scum so well, but it is amazing. My only caveat about this product is that it is pretty strong – the smell isn’t bad but the mist from the snap-crackle-popping foam bubbles is easy to breathe in, so I had to cover my nose and mouth with a cloth while I scrubbed. However, the clean was WELL WORTH IT!
So, if your house needs some clean, I recommend starting with these products! Happy cleaning!
