Our birthday celebration continues today with another great giveaway - a sun hat from the San Diego Hat Company!
If you spent your 20s tanning in the sun, it’s time to take care of your skin! No need to compromise style though. San Diego Hat Co. offers fashionable floppy hats with a UPF 50+ rating. That means that you’ll look great while blocking out 98% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.
My hair is dark and my complexion is translucent pale light, so that means my scalp is always getting burnt. I read somewhere recently that the scalp is a common and dangerous place to develop skin cancer, so it’s really important to make sure to cover it! And what better way than a cute SPF 50 hat?
My favorite thing about this hat is the rim - it has a flexible wire rim hidden within the fabric that allows you to form it to your liking - it doesn’t just flop in your face!
Want one of your own? Here’s how to enter!

Sunscreen + SPF clothes + SPF 100 beach umbrella + big always flopping in my eyes beach hat = sun protection for me!

I use sunscreen on exposed skin, and wear a wide-brim hat to shade my face and head (nothing worse than a sunburned scalp!).

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
I started getting sun poisoning in my mid 20’s (after a lot of years of sun worship) so I’m always very careful when I am out in the sun. I take an umbrella to the beach which kind of makes me sad but it is the only way I can enjoy the beach for more than an hour and my kids need the shade now anyway. And I seek out the shaded areas when I am at a pool and don’t go at peak times during the day.

I was burned bad as a child- my parent’s were total sun worshipers! I actually thought that baby oil was sunblock for awhile! Now as an adult, with children, I am extra careful! Everyone in my house puts on sunblock right after breakfast- before even getting dressed for the day, we make it a routine, and even my youngest knows she can’t go anywhere without it!

I’ve used daily moisturizers every day for the last 13 years and use additional sunscreen if I’m going to be out in the sun.

I spend most my days basking in the gentle glow of the computer monitor at work, so not much sun time here.
However, I do wear a daily moisturizer with spf that does a great job for when I’m actually out in the sunlight.

I slather myself with sunscreen, often! I have auburn colored hair, so I do not tan. I burn. No kidding, after my brothers college graduation, I had a little too much sun, and still 3 weeks later people are still telling me I’m sunburnt. Uhhhh, no kidding!
