Things I Love Thursday – The Tunic Trend!

September 18th, 2008 · Posted By: Jenny

A couple of weeks ago, when I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, I went to Kohl’s to blow that fat wad of sweaty money. You know what I ended up blowing it on? TUNICS!! I had never even tried on a tunic before, and had avoided the trend due to fear of their looking like maternity wear. But I was wrong, people. WRONG!  I bought four tunics that day and I wish I could buy a few more!  They are adorable, stylish, and hide lots of things that I want to keep hidden.

And now for a shameless plug. I also wrote an article for Blissfully Domestic about my love for tunics, and they coincidentally published it TODAY!  In the article I offer three tips for wearing them correctly. So do me a favor and go check it out here and leave me a comment so the peeps at Blissfully Domestic won’t fire me (form a job I don’t get paid for. wouldn’t that be humiliating??)

  1. I love tunics as well. They are very cute and do hide without making it look like you are wearing a tent!

I LIVE in tunics – they are the greatest invention for moms!

  3. Who were they by at Kohl’s? Cause I love tunics too and am going to be twinsees with you!!

I think they are so cute, but my waist is the ONLY small part about my body so i’m gonna wear something that accentuates it, rather than covers it up.

my sister, on the other hand, just gave birth in May and absolutely LOVES these tops.

  5. I’ll just put it right out there because I don’t know another way to say it.. big boobs are a good thing, or bad thing for the tunic? I can see these looking horribly, horribly wrong on me, but they are really cute.

Jill – the last two tunics pictured in the Blissfully Domestic article are two I actually purchased! The other two were 3/4 sleeve polo tunics and I think they were Sonoma brand. Very cute.

Jen – big boobs look great in a tunic as long as it is not empire waist or gathered at the bust. Mine are bigger than I’d like them to be right now due to nursing, so I stay away from those styles. A nice square neck looks great, as do the polo tunics.

    :)

Hear hear! Tunics have a way of hiding certain of my problem areas–areas that rhyme with “schmuffin schmop.”
