It’s hard for me to believe, but Sammy recently outgrew his Graco SnugRide infant carrier. And though it was yet another sign that my baby was growing up, I was actually pretty eager to stop lugging him around in it! I was also anxious to let him try out his new big-boy car seat, the Graco ComfortSport.
As I’ve mentioned a couple hundred times, I am a freak very diligent about reading user reviews before buying anything, and a car seat was certainly no exception. I read up on it in all my standard places – Baby Bargains, Amazon, Consumer Reports, and about a thousand various other website, and I even Twittered about it, and everything I read said that the ComfortSport was a great pick. Retailing between $79-$99, depending on the model, it has the same safety ratings as other more expensive car seats.
When we were ready to install the ComfortSport, we found that adjusting the straps was very simple, as was the LATCH installation. My husband found it easier to get a secure fit with this seat than with other seats that we’ve had (for some reason, we have gone through a ton of car seats, it seems!). Sam seemed to like it as well – he can see his sister (as she sits in her Graco TurboBooster – do you see a pattern here?) a lot better in this seat than he could his infant carrier, and he has no problem sleeping in it. The shoulder straps are easy to adjust when he’s in the seat, which is a definite plus. We are using this seat in our Corolla, a fairly compact car, and Kate’s seat is back there as well, so we needed something on the narrow side. The ComfortSport fits great back there, and yet it is plenty roomy enough for Sam.
I can definitely see why the Graco ComfortSport gets such high ratings across the board. It is a really nice seat, and the price is extremely reasonable – a great combination. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a convertible car seat.
