March is National Craft Month! Hybrid Scrapbooking with Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist – Enter to Win!

March 27th, 2009 · Posted By: Emily

Last year, we told you about Serif’s easy-to-use digital scrapbooking program, Digital Scrapbook Artist. This program is so fun it makes even non-crafters (like me, for example) want to start scrapbooking! As March is National Craft Month, I thought I’d introduce you to the concept of hybrid scrapbooking, which brings together traditional scrapbooking with real embellishments and scraps with digital layouts.

Digital Scrapbook Artist is a perfect tool to get you started using some of the pre-made layouts. Just select the layout, drag and drop your photo into the frame and if you want, add in some text or extra embellishment. Once you’ve printed it, jazz it up with a sprinkle of glitter, a ribbon or any material. Hybrid scrapbooking is the best of both worlds!

Serif has just made available its latest DaisyTrail Digikit, Collection 3. Each DaisyTrail DigiKit is a complete set of backgrounds, materials, embellishments, letters, brushes and frames as well as sample layouts to get the creative juices flowing or to use as-is. Ten kits come in Collection 3 including the hip and edgy, Indie Chick and the sweet summer feel of Painted Backyard. This collection retails for $39.99 and Digital Scrapbook Artist is $49.99.

Mommin’ It Up readers have a chance to win their own copy of Serif’s Digital Scrapbook Artist and DaisyTrail Collection 3! Just visit Serif’s webpage and leave a comment about what type of scrapbook you’d make with Digital Scrapbook Artist. Mommin’ It Up readers can use this coupon code: USDSA3 to purchase Digital Scrapbook Artist and receive $15 off when you purchase from www.serif.com/scrapbook!

This contest ends at 5p.m. on April 3, and the winner will be chosen using random.org. Good luck!

I used to old-school scrapbook, back when I had very little subject matter to scrapbook – you know, pre-baby. Now that I actually have things I want to scrapbook I have no time to actually scrapbook. It’s a vicious cycle when you think about it.

I think the first order of business with this new software would be to get that poor kid a baby book made…

  2. Hollie says:

I’m with the first poster…I have to get together a book for baby #1 and now #2 who just arrived. Luckily, I have the pictures, just need the time!

  3. I like the Secret Garden in the DaisyTrail3 collection – it would be perfect for a scrapbook of my three year old’s summer.

I’ve never done digital scrapbooking, I’d love to try it, thanks for the giveaway!

  4. Andreah says:

I already have an album for my oldest son but my younger sons pictures are all on the computer. I would use it to create an album for him. Thanks!

I’m an old-school scrapper….I tried digi scrapping and just couldn’t love it because I LOVE me some embellishments!!! Hybrid scrapping sounds like the best of both worlds. I’d start with a baby album…for my sixteen-year-old (hiding in slacker shame)

Wow! These look really awesome, and maybe even someone as computer-dumb as me could do it! If I won, I would totally make a digital scrapbook for my grandma, who has a huge birthday coming up in June. This would be great to put tons of pictures of her and our family in! Thanks for the chance!

  7. Andrea Linder says:

I would make a “sisters” book for my daughters. I think it would be treasured!
    Thanks so much!

I can’t wait to try this…I have been HAND scrapbooking for years. This will make scrapbooking fun and easy without the hours of sorting pictures and messy glue sticks! I JUST LOVE THIS IDEA!!

I would do a book on our trip to Disney World for Punkin’s 2nd birthday!

I love the idea of digital scrapbooking and want to look at it more closely. I love these holiday centered pages. Especially the Christmas and Halloween ones.

  13. Selina says:

There are so many choices; I love spring sets as well as the Secret Garden in the DaisyTrail3; I have both a boy and a girl and lots of nieces and nephews, I could make so many books. Thanks for the chance. iclipalso(at)yahoo(dot)com

I’d make a scrapbook about my family and our farm. My favorite digikit would have to be DaisyTrail Digikit Collection 2: My Keepsake!

  16. I’m wanting to start digital scrapbooking and this is just a good resource to have!

I’d probably start with our family album for the year. I think hybrid scrapping is what I’ll be doing more anyway so this would be fun to try!
